What is SunBurnt Therapeutic After Sun Relief?

SunBurnt is an over-the-counter homeopathic remedy specially formulated to treat mild and moderate erythema, better known as sunburn. Sunburn is commonly caused by overexposure to the sun, while working in the garden, playing sports, spending time outdoors, attending a ballgame or on a beach vacation.

I recently purchased SunBurnt at Walgreens and would like to submit the mail-in rebate, however it asks for the UPC proof of purchase, which is on the tube itself. What do I do?

First, thank you for purchasing a tube of SunBurnt®! We have waived the UPC requirement for this particular rebate, so please submit your completed form and Walgreens receipt and your request will be honored. We apologize for any inconvenience, and appreciate your interest in SunBurnt® Therapeutic After-Sun Relief.

How does SunBurnt work?

SunBurnt is formulated specifically to address the key symptoms of sunburn: overheating and dryness of skin, peeling, pain and risk of infection. Its natural homeopathic extracts act safely and effectively to (1) cool overheated skin, (2) soothe and hydrate skin, and (3) reduce the appearance of unsightly peeling. SunBurnt’s homeopathic active ingredients work with the body’s natural healing mechanism to restore the skin’s health and moisture balance.

The package says your product is "Homeopathic". What does that mean?

The active ingredients in SunBurnt — Cantharis, Calendula and Echinacea — are all natural plant and animal extracts derived under the principles of Homeopathy and manufactured in the USA in accordance with the regulations of the US Food & Drug Administration.

What is Homeopathy?

Homeopathy is a natural system of healing that is classified under the category of alternative medicine. Homeopathic medicines are exceptionally safe, and have no side effects or contraindications. Developed by a German physician named Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, Homeopathy has been used to treat disease all over the world for over 200 years, and is especially popular in Europe and Asia.

Is Homeopathy regulated by the FDA?

Yes. Homeopathy has a long history of use and regulation in the United States. In 1938, Congress passed a law declaring that nonprescription homeopathic remedies are to be regulated by the FDA in the same manner as nonprescription, over-the-counter (OTC) drugs, which means that they can be purchased without a physician's prescription. All homeopathic remedies are required to meet certain legal standards for strength, quality, purity, and packaging.

In 1988, the FDA required that all homeopathic remedies list the indications for their use (i.e., the medical problems to be treated) on the label. The FDA also requires the label to list ingredients, dilutions, and instructions for safe use.

The guidelines for homeopathic remedies are found in an official guide, the Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia of the United States, which is authored by a nongovernmental, nonprofit organization of industry representatives and homeopathic experts.

How is SunBurnt different from other sunburn products on the shelf?

Most sunburn remedies contain Lidocaine, a topical anasthetic and antiarrhythmic drug, and focus primarily on pain relief. SunBurnt is Lidocaine-free; it contains natural active ingredients which not only soothe the pain but also draw heat out of the sunburn and hydrate the skin. They also work to help reduce the appearance of peeling.

Is SunBurnt safe to use?

SunBurnt is manufactured in the USA under strict safety and clinical manufacturing standards, as promulgated by the US Food & Drug Administration. When used as directed, it is safe and does not cause side effects. It does not contain any antibiotics, steroids, or analgesics
